Derek Waldron is the Chief Analytics Officer at JPMorganChase. His role is to spearhead the Firm’s overall Artificial Intelligence program to drive transformative value across all business units. His responsibilities include advancing generative AI capabilities, identifying and implementing high-impact AI use cases, developing scalable AI solutions, leading employee education and adoption initiatives, and ensuring robust AI governance. In his role, Derek is passionate about integrating AI into business strategies, fostering a culture of innovation, and driving firmwide AI adoption. His goal is to harness the power of AI to drive significant business impact and maintain a competitive edge.


Before stepping into his current role, Waldron served as JPMorganChase’s Global Head of Strategy and Chief of Staff for the Corporate Investment Bank. In these positions, he developed and executed strategic initiatives that drove growth and operational excellence, while providing strategic support to senior leadership on key projects.


Prior to joining JPMorganChase, Waldron was a Partner at McKinsey & Company. As a member of the Financial Services Practice and the Americas Leader of the Risk Digital and Analytics Practice, he led a global team of AI & ML experts and consultants. Together, they delivered cutting-edge solutions in credit risk management, collection operations, customer life-cycle management, and pricing. His decade-long experience at McKinsey honed his ability to drive complex, large-scale, and innovative change programs for leading financial institutions.


Waldron holds a Ph.D. in Computational Physics from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He also holds a Bachelor of Science, Joint Honors in Mathematics and Physics, from University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Canada.
