Peter is the Head & VP, Digital Self-Service, Innovation and Technology at BMO Bank of Montreal. He is responsible for leading the digital product management and technology groups driving the agile-led transformation across Canadian digital self-service experiences, channels and enterprise capabilities (e.g., Open Banking, Customer Identity & Access Management, AI/Conversational Platforms), in addition to driving the bank’s digital innovation agenda via R&D, ecosystem partnerships and IP portfolio development.
Peter is the inventor of multiple patent-pending concepts and has received global recognition from Fast Company, Celent Research, Gartner, Finovate, and other leading industry organizations.
Peter's efforts have helped define the Canadian fintech landscape, as a key contributor in establishing the Payments Canada Mobile Reference Model, the Canadian rollout of Apple and Google Pay, the Department of Finance’s consultations on Open Banking, and the World Economic Forum's panel on AI in Financial Services.
In his previous roles, Peter headed the Customer Experience Design and Mobile Platform teams, where he delivered a number of industry firsts including Canada’s first banking skill on Alexa, full fingerprint authentication for mobile banking and real-time appointment booking.
Prior to joining BMO, Peter led an early-stage fintech to a successful exit and also held progressively senior roles at TD Financial Group and JP Morgan Chase.
Peter regularly speaks at fintech conferences, with work previously highlighted by American Banker, CNN Money and the Canadian Press. Outside of the office, Peter advises a number of fintech startups across North America and supports digital entrepreneurship in the community through engagements with Toronto Metropolitan University, Brainstation and other ecosystem partners.
